Hello and welcome to the forums.....you get what you pay for in the end...£149 for a RTF heli and tranny isnt going to be very good...it will let you have an insight into helis but not much more.

The blade you purchased will keep you happy for a long time and flies mint....the tranny will work the next half a dozen helis you get......its a great package and well worth the extra money you spent

Any problems dont hesitate to post your questions on here

Happy flying.....Dave

i have just got my blade 400 from you guys after spending £149 on an out of the box helicopter RDS 450 rtf well thats what it said on the box I had trouble with the charger it never switched off! it wrecked two batteries and when this so called out of the heli finally got off the ground it dropped the swash plate link and chopped the rear boom in half !!!! I emplore you people to spend the extra £100 and buy the blade it is reponsive and controlable I have previousley only flown a twister before this but after about four flights managed to take off hover and land in a controlled manner so before you buy the rubbish spend the extra and have a smile on your face instead of a crumpled mess like i had..
happy flying love DR WEST x

Hello Andy

The pitch should be set at plus neg 10 but as a new flyer you want to invest in a pitch guage and use your tranny to set the pitch at plus 7 or 8 at full stick and minus 2 bottom stick, mid stick should be zero....that way if you panic and pull the stick straight down you wont drive it into the floor...it will come down steady.....also get a good simulator.....Phoenix has a blade 400 on it that flies the same as in real life.....any problems mail me at the above addy......Dave

I have been flying my new T REX 500 a couple of weeks now, Then to my dismay it dropped out of the sky and landed with a heavy thud, breaking the main blades and also the main gear had stripped the gears on the main plastic gear in about 6 places. Even if I had hit the floor with power on, whitch i didn't anyway, It would have only stripped the gear in one place not six. My conclusion to the accident was perhaps a fault on the main drive gear. I have replaced it with a new gear and have not moved the motor and to me it appears to in the correct position meshing with the drive gear. Has anyone else had a similar freak accident.

The mini pred is basically an indoor heli.....will only fly outside on a calm day...dont waste your money on carbon blades while your learning as this will be very expensive when the inevitable happens...just put wooden ones on and get a 450 trainning undercarrige.....should stop it tipping over....other than that ditch the underpants and get some king size pampers....you can just throw them away instead of washing em.....have fun...Dave

Ive recently purchased a mini pred from my local model shop, im a complete beginner, and was advised this helicopter was good for beginners, ive spent many hours on the pheonix sim, and practiced on it a week before taking the heli outside, but learning to fly it seems to be costing me a fortune, and im not sure if this is common for learners, but im reluctant to get air practice time if im going to crash it and have to spend a fortune on replacements, the first time i practiced, i was just trying to hover, and ended up snapping the skids and flybar, i have ordered new parts and also invested in some carbon blades, as i read in this forum about it aiding in the balance of the heli, but im starting to give up because the thought of having another crash and waiting for new parts puts me off. And the pheonix sim is usefull but i find it completely different to flying the heli outside. Now maybe it could be due to the fact it was a bit windy, but again, the thought of having to wait for a sunny day, with no wind, and unless i find a local desert im going to hit things, i understand this hobby takes time, but how much will it cost me to correct the errors i make as a beguinner. If anyone has any suggestions i would be greatfull, if you feel i should give up, your probibly right lol. Sorry for the length of the post, its my first time, but i realy do want to start enjoying learning to fly, just find it very hard keeping the heli stable, and i have to take atleast 4 pairs of underpants with me along with a spare battery.

Hello Dave, just got back from a short break in Zurich and ready to try again. I taken your advice and order new bits. A spektrum DX7 tx, futaba 401 gyro and a futaba s3154 servo for the tail. I also got Ray authoritative dvd electric heli and eccpm now which covers using the spektrum DX7, so am going to follow the setup and hopfully everything should be ok as this is starting to add up now. Will keep you posted.

Speaking of essential gear. I recently brought a blade 400 for my third try at helicopters. After destroying it once I read up on the ROBBE Helicommand and subsequently brought one. I admit it is quite expensive but what an incredible piece of kit. I started with the positional mode then went to auto levelling and now have started switching it off for short periods and managed to cope with no disasters. This may well be considered cheating but I reckon with helicopters its a case of whatever works for you. Its quite handy to be able to throw a switch when you get in trouble and have the helicopter stop what it was doing and sit steady wherever it happens to be. I'm very pleased with the Blade too and the availability of parts, though hopefully I'll actually get as far as wearing them out now instead of breaking them. I hope my experience with this equipment might be useful to someone and if anyone wants to know more I'll be more than willing to share my experience.

Hi all,

Quick question. Bought a couple of:

http://www.simplyt-rex.com/catalogue/spare-parts/blade-400-3d-2/spmdsp75-7-5-gram-super-sub-micro-digital-prog-servo

after a crash and killed the orginal evel and aler servos. These seem to have oposite direction though. Tried changing them to reverse through the tranny - all went a bit odd - messed up the throttle - blades just kept going forward.

Cheers

Mark

Bad news Dave....went for a test flight and power up half way and the tail just spun around an around again. I did add up to 35+ rudder trim to counter it but the more power i supplyed it just started to spin again. I can only assume that the HH gyro function cannot be working correctly, and to top it off one of the arms that holds the tail rotor blades in place just flew right off!.

Hi, i bought one of these several months ago and have had numerous flights and crashes as I didn't spend enough time on the sim.
I am a total beginner as well. Mine flew straight out of the box. Basically a copy of a T-rex without the same level of quality but good value for what you get. Any specific questions please ask.

Hello Alex.....from reading the instructions it look like the gain pot on the gyro is for a 4 channel tranny....so turn it three quarters up if its a 4 channel tranny, and if you are using a 6 channel tranny turn it to zero and just use the travel adjust in the tranny.......Have fun......Dave

One more thing I didn't mention, on the gyro it has a very small gain screw that you can adjust. Should I set this to 0% now that I can adjust the gain remotely from the Tx, Or turn it up halfway.
