I am very new to this world and am considering buying a Blade CX 2 as a starter - can anyone advise if this a good model to start with? I will probably be wanting to use indoor and outdoor, would welcome any advice/comments - thanks!

Hello Alan....the blade CX2 is a contra rotating heli and is designed to be exremely stable for people new to the hobby like yourself....you wont regret buying one as they are great fun and give you confidence....my advice is not to put trainning balls on it as it detroys the balance...also if you are serious about taking up this hobby invest in a good simulator...phoenix is the best....this is an invaluable learning tool because when you crash you get a free heli pop straight up....not like in the real world where you have to spend your hard earned pences on bits to get you going again.

Welcome to the hobby and kiss your friends and family goodbye because its addictive...lol......Cheers and beers....Dave

I am new to helis as well, and have a fine CX2. I have learned to strip it down install spare parts and carry out upgrades and it keeps on flying well. So yes, in a nutshell, the CX2 is great for newcomers to the hobby. It is good for your confidence levels.

I have a new cx2 and I found the training carraige very useful. I must admit that it flies better withought it. I found myself freezing and not knowing what to do for the first few weeks and the training carraige saved a lot of money. I started off in extreme ground effect with the heli still on the floor but able to slide slowly where it was pointed. In the end it depends on how quickly you learn, but you can't learn with a broken heli. But with the best will in the world you will become more confidant, and then overconfidant and about then you'll have a crash. The blade cx2 is pretty tough and survives most but not all crashes. Above all the parts are cheaper than a bigger heli. Sims are a good way to learn but the real thing is allways harder with the stress of a real model getting close to disaster.
