I've been reading some instruction on how to setup this gyro using a six channel radio system. It said while the LED lights on and the LED color is turning to Blue from Red, do not move the helicopter or the gyro. If you move it, the neutral setting can not be properly done. When the initial setting is completed, switch to the heading lock mode. Is this part done from the transmitter, as I cannot see a switch on the gyro itself, Can anyone please help!

Hello Alex.....what gyro are you trying to set up?....what tranny are you using?...what heli are you putting it on?

+10 -10 is the pitch range which you set the blades up for 3D,and zero degrees at centre stick....get yourself Rays Authoritive DVD on CCPM and electric helis....is a good source of info and will answer all the questions you are going to ask on here...happy flying...Dave

Thanks for answering my plea for help Dave, as things has gone from bad to worst. The heli am trying to get off the ground is a thunder tiger mini titan e325. Yesterday I'd another go to try and hover, and all the tail did was spun around and around. When I countered this with the rudder stick on the Tx, in just spun around and around the other way!. I did notice the other day when I fitted a new tail servo (Hitec 65mg)that after it centered it and then power the recevier, after a few seconds it started to creep one way and then the other way.If I centered it back with the rudder stick, again after i few seconds it would do the same. At times it would just creep one way and stay there. The gyro am using is the MKS Propo GY 191 Head Lock Gyro,I connected the tail servo to it, the singel orange wire has beeen connect to channel 5 on the Hitec FM HFs-06MT receiver. I've set the gain to the half way point but notice no diffrents if I change it. The Tx is a Hitec optic 6 sport. Funny it was the first time I got the heli off the ground (about 12inchs) and it just spun around like crazy.

click on the above link and it will tell you how to set it up

the servo you have will do the job but its not really quick enough to get a good hold on the tail...at 4.8 volts over 60 degrees travel it runs at 0.14 seconds...a good tail servo is twice that speed

    Have fun.......Dave

Hello Dave, thanks for the manual, it was a big help.I think I may've found the cause of the problem. As I was going through the Tx menu I came across the gyro function which was disabled. I now enable it and set the gain to 50% as I found some info that said 50% will set it to HH mode and anything under will set it to D/R mode. I centered the tail servo, turn the Rx on and bingo it hasn't creeped in any direction. One thing I've notice is that in HH mode, if I move the rudder stick the tail servo just about moves and only a very small amount. If I turn down the gain and in D/R mode now and move the rudder stick it move normally. Not sure what going on there, but will take it for a test flight again and see if the tail is under control. Thanks for your time mate, been a big help, will keep you updated if that ok.

Glad it helped you Alex....75% in HH is a good place to start...if it hunts(waggles the tail quickly) back it down so that it dont...i dont really know why the servo dont move alot in HH without seeing it.....unless you havent set the travel up correctly....have a play around with the settings and see what develops....Dave

One more thing I didn't mention, on the gyro it has a very small gain screw that you can adjust. Should I set this to 0% now that I can adjust the gain remotely from the Tx, Or turn it up halfway.

Hello Alex.....from reading the instructions it look like the gain pot on the gyro is for a 4 channel tranny....so turn it three quarters up if its a 4 channel tranny, and if you are using a 6 channel tranny turn it to zero and just use the travel adjust in the tranny.......Have fun......Dave

Hello Dave, as you can tell am very green with all this, but on my Tx (Hitec optic 6 sport)would that be the EPA adjustments for channel 4. These are currently set at 100%.

Bad news Dave....went for a test flight and power up half way and the tail just spun around an around again. I did add up to 35+ rudder trim to counter it but the more power i supplyed it just started to spin again. I can only assume that the HH gyro function cannot be working correctly, and to top it off one of the arms that holds the tail rotor blades in place just flew right off!.

Hello Alex.......you dont trim the rudder....a few points on sub trim but no more....with trim in, the gyro thinks youre putting an input in and will compensate....hence the mad spinning.....buy some more bits and try again dude...welcome to the most frustrating and dearest hobbies there is....lol....Dave

Hello Dave, just got back from a short break in Zurich and ready to try again. I taken your advice and order new bits. A spektrum DX7 tx, futaba 401 gyro and a futaba s3154 servo for the tail. I also got Ray authoritative dvd electric heli and eccpm now which covers using the spektrum DX7, so am going to follow the setup and hopfully everything should be ok as this is starting to add up now. Will keep you posted.

Alex, I'm quite new to this hobby also, but the first thing I thought of when you described your problem was perhaps you might try switching the direction of the gyro? There should be a little switch on the gyro to reverse it.

Hello Ken, yeah all is well now, I think that was part of the problem. Also the heli wasn't setup correctly before, so I took it apart and started again from the ground up and followed Rays Authoritive DVD to the letter. Now when I hover and fly it around it's so easy and feels very balance. It's all in the setup.
